Conan

Hello friends!

It has been too long! I have done so much this summer and have not shared anything with you through this medium. I will at the very least share two of the best days! And I will share the most recent one first.
If you haven't figured out what it's about I shall think you a simpleton!(that was a poorly quoted line from P&P, I will do that sometimes, and I apologize) My wonderful friend Audrey got tickets to see Conan! I was very excited, because I was able to see him host the tonight show and I wanted to continue the tradition.
It is Audrey's tradition to make shirts, which she does very well, to prove our fanaticism. And this time she sent me a picture the night before the show with the message
"I wish I had time to make this"

Ex-Talk Show Host Beard

This is amazing, right?
I wished I had enough time to make it too was my thought as I went to bed. When I woke up early(thanks daylight savings) I grabbed my orange yarn and thread, and the only felt I had and took them with me in my crochet bag just in case.

When I get to Audrey's, she presents me with this! I still can't believe she made it.

This is amazing, right?

Once we drove up to Burbank we waited in line for about a minute(not exaggerating) and then the wonderful people at Conan wrote down our place in line and then sent us on our way until show time! How cool is that? It saved us from waiting around for 3 hours.

So with our new found time we drove to the park and had an impromptu picnic.

This is amazing, right?
So we ate, talked, and waited. We had about and hour an a half before we had to be back. Audrey wanted to wear the beard and we figured that we had enough time to make a quick replica, but nothing quite as nice as the original! It took that whole time to finish.

My favorite part of the whole thing was tracing Audrey's face to make sure the beard would fit!
I'm sure you know by now, mostly because only 5 people read this blog and I have told you all about it already, why the majority of this story is about me half-assing a beard. But doesn't everybody love reading a explanation? It's like the Simarillion! I just made this post more entertaining by association!

So Audrey wears the beard the entire day! All the pages and people involved with the show are amused with beard, which in turn makes us more amused with the beard, if that were possible. Have you ever had those moments where you are lost in a vicious laughing circle. Something (for example, beard) makes you laugh, then the laughing makes you laugh, and it just continues until you forget why you started laughing but then you look up and your Asian friend is wearing a red beard and you start the cycle all over again.
In order to get to the taping we had to walk through the WB lot
and some other shows were being taped.
We got to see two of the actors from big bang theory!
Simon Helberg, also from dr. horrible fame
and
This on a different day, would have been my highlight!
This is amazing, right?
We finally get to the stage where Conan is tapped and are ushered to our seats. The front of the stage is calling to us, and as the page walks us closer and closer to the front, we really started to hope again like we had never let ourselves hope before (yet another really bad attempt to weave Colin Firth into my life!)
When we get sat in the front row, we try to devise a plan of attack, some might call it a hug-attack! We presumed that Conan would see hairy face Audrey and be drawn to her. He wouldn't be able to resist her, and that would be our prime opportunity! *spoiler* (we all failed!)

Andy points out "the bearded lady" to Conan and then Coco walks over to Audrey, asks if her beard comes off, and then proceeds to put it on! I am ecstatic because Conan is physically wearing something I made. I am so lucky (I know he hugged and kissed Audrey and this really isn't about me, but there is something really gratifying about someone being amused by something you've done, especially when that person is on tv!) Also don't get me wrong, I know that it was not my original idea to create the beard, or even make it that day, but I was lucky enough to be the one to do it! And I am so grateful.
Here's Audrey next to Conan both wearing the beard!
This is amazing, right?

Here's all of us on tv!

A moment of your time

I was shopping with my cousin to buy a bridesmaid dress for her wedding at Windsor at the block. Most of that isn't relevant, but I'm just painting a picture.

As I'm grabbing dresses off the rack an employee asks if I'd like her to start a dressing room for me. I comply and continue searching.

The girl, we'll call her pixley, approached me again to take the newly acquired dresses. I told her I was ready to try on the dresses. In an attempt to be personable she started a conversation that went a little something like this...

Pixley- what are you shopping for?
Me- a bridesmaid dress.
P- are you getting married?
M- no she (as I point to my cousin) is.
P- (toward my cousin) are you excited?

Let me interject here and point out what is obvious to everyone, wait... no, you can figure it out yourself.
Back to the conversation

P- (doesn't wait for a response) I mean has it hit you yet? Because I am turing 21 next week and it like hasn't really hit me yet, ya know?

She leaves and let's us try on our clothes in peace.

We find the perfect dress but I need it in a bigger size so we ask our dear pixley if they have it at a different store. She looks it up and informs us that there is one in the store. She pauses for a second and realizes that it's the one on the mannequin.

P- do you want the dress on the mannequin?
M- yes that's perfect.
P-(after she takes the mannequin down and removes the dress) hold on, let me put the sensor on it.

She is putting on a sensor so I don't steal it? I guess I understand, but I've made it pretty clear that I am going to purchase this dress.
Since she went to the trouble of putting the sensor on the dress I tried it on again. It fit great and I just had to buy it.
Walking up to the checkout counter I overheard

P-(to her co-workers) I heard cochella was legit
(silence)
P- yeah my sorority sister totally went

I didn't so much overhear it, as I was forced to hear it when pixley decided to have a one-sided conversation with her co-workers rather than ring up the customer right in front of her.

But I must thank pixley, if that is her real name. Without her I would not have this wonderful story that has overshadowed the story of buying the dress for my cousin's wedding.

Thanks for listening

the challenge

Here is the sandwich bag full of smarties I have to eat!

Eric asked how much it would cost him to see someone eat these beautiful pieces of candy. I shrugged and said $5, Shawna laughed and said it would be more like $50. It didn't quite seem like a real request at first, but I guess he wasn't expecting me to offer such a low number.
I am going to take a picture of the bag each hour and see just how long it takes me. Hopefully this doesn't ruin my dinner, or keep me up all night because of the sugar!
Side bets are also allowed, like how long will it take me to eat a smartie after this endeavor or will I need to make an emergency run to the dentist because my teeth are rotting?

Pants on the ground

I know there is a tornado warning, and I know that the weather is a little more crazy than usual.

But why does this give everyone the green light to go insane?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not mad. Their behavior is so entertaining I don't necessarily want it to stop. I just don't understand the panic.

Can someone explain it to me?

Sharp hint of new tears

You expect me to apologize for things that you've done wrong.
You're owning up to nothing.
I wish that I was gone.
Because you're not going anywhere.
